Summary
Background
We realized our sport project with partnership 4 countries (TR, BG, HU, UK). In our project we had Transnational Meetings, online partner meetings, Orienteering Sporting Event for hearing disabled youth & youth with fewer opportunities, deaf disability awareness campaigns, dissemination activities, sign language inclusion workshops and sport activities were organised to promote inclusion through sport. It has been a fruitful great opportunity to share and learn new tools to involve deaf youth.
Objectives
Ensure social inclusion of hearing impaired young people through Orienteering Sports EventImprove quality of lives of target group with active participation in sport & societyGive disabled youth & young people with fewer opportunities a chance to develop social skillsWith workshops & seminars, raise awareness of difficulties disables youth faceDevelop NGOs’, youth workers' competencies & facilitation skillsIncrease the capacity of the participating organizations by exchanging good practices
Implementation
Implementation consisted of; research & analysis of country situations for deaf awareness, statistics & good examples, 3 Transnational Meetings, International Orienteering Sporting Event, local activities, sign language workshops, deaf awareness campaigns, 2 surveys, evaluations, dissemination activities.We followed our original 18 months work plan to carry out implementation actions with our activities & online and in person meetings. TMs were also our checkpoints to measure and evaluate.
Results
Fruitful cooperation to share and exchange good practices to involve deaf community & young people with fewer opportunities. Learning new tools to increase inclusion of our target group through sport has been one of the greatest results.All partners increased their capacity, gained invaluable experience to involve deaf community not just in sports but also in social society. Platform for participants to connect, create bond & sense of belonging, better health, new opportunities through sport.
